Dolus has been dolus for 1 year and 2 days.
HAPPY 1 YEAR DOLUS!!!!! It was a true blessing to be put into dolus for arts camp last june. before gg for camp, i did wonder what uni would be like. i knew there were some friends gg to arts too, like weixuan hoonie... but still, i wondered whether i'll have to be on my own alot, doing things alone, going for lects and tuts by myself yada yada... turns out that i didn't.
for every mod in sem1, i took it with friend(s). for every arts mod i took, i attended lessons with dolus pple.
soci - david xuan nana jas
psyc - markie mel nana jas david ernest xuan
film - david
elang - david jas ernest
physics - ym
lects and tuts wouldn't have been so enjoyable or bearable in some cases if not for my fellow dolusians. still rmb how 8 of us sat at the last row in LT8 at 8am on tuesday mornings for psyc lecture by dr cha and the green dragon; and how none of us (except xuan initially) liked timothy choy(?) much because of his incessant sarcasm that eventually provoked xuan during her last tut; or rmb the alternate wed afternoons where markie, mel, nana, jas and i had tutorials in AS6 0410, afterwhich nana jas and i would rush down to LT11 for soci lect. oh and rmb the 'infamous' calista?
elang was highly memorable too. ernest was late alot of times for lectures on fri morning at 8am. haha. not that i was never late (that is soooo impossible) but ernie usually reached bout 830 on the average. i actually miss dr magdalena cruz...(did i get the spelling right?) esp after you've gone thru tara meanienan. i miss her portugese humour. meanienan never made me really laugh during lects.
soci was fun too. i enjoyed reading the textbook and the readings for leisure, not for studying. nothing registered while i was studying for soci, hence the pathetic B. rmb the coupla lects when nana brought tiramisu-flavoured wafer biscuits to pass around. it was fantastic and was the perfect wake-up snack. 1 thing bout soci that i remember were the lectureres: there was the highly monotonous big caucasian guy, the sarcastically humourous black-haired guy, the screechy-voiced and big hair indian lady who never failed to shout into the mic, and a few more i think. of course, there was my tutor - Norman abdul(lah?) - who still remembers me from his class up till now. he was a great guy, ever so patient with our non-responsive class. he even gave us each a lollipop during our last tut.
film and history was interesting. if not for david who intro-ed that mod before our first contact with cors, i would prob never haf taken it. altho my results for this weren't great, it was fun watching movies every week, esp since i wouldn't have gotten to watch some films if they weren't included in the syllabus. it felt like literature on film. of course the fortnightly essays gave me huge headaches since my brain hadn't written such papers since the days of lit class during sec 4, which made me think twice (or more than that i believe) about taking lit exposure mod for a tenetative english minor course. the history lecturers were hilarious, namely ian gordan and tim-something...
still rmb the weekly and sometimes, even daily, dolus lunches we had at arts canteen. i miss that alot alot. *hint hint people!!* we didn't have many of that in sem 2 sadly. everyone was so close to everyone then.
i think we've all matured throughout this 1 year and 2 days. every single one of us. myself included i hope. there were times of ups and downs for us (whether individually or as a group), but i'm so thankful that dolus still exists in our hearts!!
the 1st new fren from dolus i got to know better was david. he was a very supportive and reliable person i knew i could count on. but a twist in things made things the way they are today. sadly. knew ernie a little more starting sem 2 cos we had 3 mods together, out of 5. got closer to jas too, cos we had JS together and suffered together under meanienan, cos we talked more about stuff, and cos we talked bout more stuff too. talked more to melly aka B1, esp over msn! been talking more to ivan too recently.
as for the rest of dolus, your name may not haf explicitly been spelt out, but i wanna tell u guys (and those that i've mentioned above) that you are a very special group of people, without whom nus would not be the same for me. a big Thank You to my dear Dolus, a big HUG to each of you too! kudos to many more years of dolus friendships ahead!!
