some entries ago, the "tried-and-tested" issue was mentioned. some entries after that, i'm not so sure that result is always accurate anymore.

i once said that ignorance is bliss. that was definitely selfish thinking on my part cos my bliss may not mean likewise for others, which reminds me of the chinese idiom...something about how one only deceives himself when he covers his ears when in fact, other pple can still hear the bell ring. or something like that, my chinese aint powerful enuff.

wat caused this "ignorance is bliss" mindset? i think sometimes, it's not so much a matter of "why are u pretending not to know when the answer is staring at u in your face", but more of not wanting to guess (no matter how accurately) the answer unless it is confirmed by...well, confirmed. why make wild, or not so wild, guesses based on your perception and your pals' creativity-run-nuts impression of the situation, and allow your imagination to go that teeny wee bit more wild than usual, just so to boost ur self esteem/ego?

then again, why shoot others down just as they're plucking up their courage to stand up and say something, knowing full well that they're taking a risk, a risk of relationships, should they blah out what they wanna say... do pple do that because they're afraid of hearing what the other party has to say, or are they afraid of facing up to the reality of having to deal with the situation after that? i guess it's a combination of the two, just one of the flaws of our species to avoid unpleasant or difficult situations. rather, to avoid dealing with.

as such, some of us just procrastinate dealing with the matter entirely! avoid meetings, cut off contact, give the cold shoulder, or simply pretend that u've never heard of anything so ridiculous in your life and ignore it altogether. wouldn't it better to deal with it immediately, to say yes or no as required, to put an end to one of the party's hesitation and apprehension, you ask. certainly, that would be the ideal, no, idealistic way of handling it. but as things usually are, it's more complicated and definitely not so easy to give a reply like that.

wat about the case where i have already given my answer, in a not-so-blatant manner, and expect you to know what i mean, only to discover later that you're not taking my answer into account at all? in this case, i just hope that "ignorance" will settle all. for all of us. to be honest, we're viewing the situation from different perspectives. and until one of us decides to change our angle of looking at it, there will always be this unspoken truth between us, that we're all in the know of what exactly is going on and the unavoidable misconception on somebody's part. not to mention, the eventual affective aspect of being duped. sigh.
